"Great tour covers many of the museum's highlights. Our guide provided excellent background information about specific pieces as well as an overview of the different styles and movements throughout art history. Skipping the line with the tour was a big advantage in such a busy place."

What Visitors Say
"Tour was excellent. Our guide Fredrick was very knowledgeable and provided a fun, informative tour."
"Good tour. Organized. Avoided wasting time in unnecessary lines. Was able to see the most important pieces while learning about the museum, art history and specific pieces. Our guide was Claudia and she was excellent."
"Great tour. Saeed was wonderful and highly recommend this tour."
"Mauro was funny and really knowledgeable about the art work in the Louvre and the buildings themselves, highly recommended"
"This tour was great! Mathilde was a great guide, very informative, she kept us moving but also ensured everyone was able to see and enjoy the artwork she was explaining. She did a great job of reading the crowds to move us to a less crowded place in a room to maximize our viewing opportunities. This was our first time to the Louvre, and it honestly would have been overwhelming to tackle it on our own. Having this guided tour was a great way to see the famous spots but also get information on additional works of art. We were able to skip the line with our tour group when entering which was also a perk, and there was a safe space to tore our items until we left. We did stay a few hours after the tour to check out areas not covered that we were interested in seeing. Very organized tour, definitely recommend if this is your first time at the Louvre."
"Claudia was very knowledgeable and clearly a very interested experienced guide. The louvre is an amazing collection of art cultural history from Europe and North Africa. Claudia made everything very interesting and was very friendly and helpful."
"Severina was an excellent tour guide! She infused humor with history and made the time fly by! We felt that she hit all of the can’t miss highlights. Highly recommend."
"Tour was totally interesting. Omar was a great guide with a lot of knowledge."
"Mauro was a friendly, informative guide. We really enjoyed our tour of the Louvre. Great getting the history behind a lot of the pieces of art. The Louvre is so busy, so was nice to have an expert with us. As for the Louvre… they need to do some crowd control at the Mona Lisa. It was a zoo !!! Why not have rope lanes to direct all the people!"
"Absolutely loved our tour. Lili was a fantastic charismatic guide who brought the history of the Louvre to life. Booking was easy and the tour was well organised. Would highly recommend!"
"Our tour of the Louvre was amazing. The meeting place was very easy to find and getting into the museum was seamless. We saw all the highlights and some extra areas. Our tour guide was great! He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour of the Louvre."
"Everything was ok, our guide Miryam was fantastic."

"Our guide Florence was very knowledgeable and a great tour guide. Easy to listen to. Outstanding guid"
"Saeed did an excellent job of explaining and enlightening us on many pieces of art. It was obvious that he was quite knowledgeable! And he was kind and thoughtful to the people on his tour."
"FLORENCE!!! Nuestra guía turística fue excepcional. Puntual en tiempo y descripción de las obras. Nos encanto"

"Claudia was an excellent guide! We enjoyed our time with Claudia. There really is so much to see. Appreciate the lockers and Claudia’s expertise on the paintings."

"Sayeed provided an excellent tour, supported his presentation with humorous anecdotes and answered all of the questions from the group with kindness and authority. When I saw the do-it-yourself line (it was too long for me to photo even with a wide angle lens), I knew I made the right decision with the “skip the line” guided tour."

"The tour was excellent, we really appreciated the speedy priority entrance, awesome guide, and explanations about the history and relevance. Would have liked to know more specifically in the tour's explanation what exhibits would be guided and which would be on your own at the end just for planning purposes."

Everything you need to know about skip-the-line entry at the Louvre.
The main pyramid entrance queue is typically 45-90 minutes on weekday mornings in peak season, and 2-3 hours on summer weekend afternoons. On free entry days (first Sunday of the month), queues have been reported at 3+ hours. Skip-the-line entry completely bypasses this queue.
A skip-the-line tour or ticket includes pre-reserved entry with a specific timed slot. You use a dedicated entry lane — either the reserved ticket line at the pyramid, or the Carrousel du Louvre underground entrance — and walk straight in. You do not wait with general admission visitors.
In peak season (April-October), almost certainly yes. The time saved (1-3 hours of queuing) and the stress avoided make the cost difference negligible. In low season (November-March, excluding holidays), standard pre-reserved tickets are adequate — queues are rarely more than 20-30 minutes.
Most skip-the-line tours use either the Carrousel du Louvre entrance (underground, accessed from rue de Rivoli or the Palais Royal metro) which has no visible queue, or the pre-reserved ticket lane at the main pyramid. Your tour confirmation will specify the exact meeting point and entrance.
It depends on what you book. Skip-the-line entry alone gives you pre-reserved access without a guide. Many tours bundle skip-the-line entry with an expert guide — these are usually the best value option for first-time visitors. Check your booking details carefully.
No. Skip-the-line entry must be booked in advance online. There is no way to buy priority entry at the museum on the day of your visit. The only option on the day is the standard queue at the pyramid entrance.
Arrive 10-15 minutes before your tour start time at the specified meeting point. Your guide will collect the group and enter together. If you're using pre-reserved self-guided tickets, try to arrive at your exact timed-entry slot — early doesn't help if you have a specific time slot.
Group sizes vary by tour type. Budget tours may have 15-25 people. Most mid-range tours are capped at 8-12 people. Semi-private and private tours are 2-8 people. Check your specific tour's description — smaller groups have a noticeably better experience, especially in the Mona Lisa room.
